UIF PAYOUTS WILL TAKE TIME – READ THIS PLEASE

BEWARE: UIF PAYOUTS WILL TAKE TIME.

Calculated time for unpaid staff to get the first UIF TERS payout is 16 MAY at the earliest. If staff are retrenched or remain on unpaid leave/short time then they will not receive any income until 16 May. (If organisations open after lockdown, then there will be at least 7 days before the next wage payout is made AFTER they return to work, +- 30 April)

Employers send info before the 15th of April,May,June then UIF verify the info and pay the employer within 30 days (a day has not been defined and could be work days). Then the employer has up to 5 days to disburse funds received to staff.

15 April +30 days + 1 day for bank clearance means that the next payment an unpaid employee will receive will be 16 May at the earliest if there are no unexpected delays. There are also two public holidays that will delay payouts if staff don't work on 27 April and 1 May.

If 30 days means 30 working days then the date is 27 May. source: UIF document "Generic MOA TERS Inputs" received 27 March.

If employees are claiming directly then it will be much slower so please get your employees to use their employer as an agent of UIF in order to submit on their behalf.

******Please share so that people can change their expectations and make alternative arrangements with creditors, landlords etc. *********

Let's pray Government puts an interest cap on money lenders so that the unpaid staff don't get taken advantage of, and that lockdown is not extended any longer than absolutely necessary.
