If you have not already done so, please install the latest tax rates for RSA that came into effect from 1 March 2017 as soon as possible. The tax rates have increased and once installed will recalculate any tax shortfalls backdated to 1 March and the employee’s take home pay will be less, and no doubt cause grumpy staff. The sooner the new rates are loaded the less negative impact it will have on staff shortfalls.
The Emp501 annual return and tax certificate information has to be submitted to SARS before the deadline on 31 May 2017. There have been updates to SARS E@syFile software that has to be installed and it is suggested that organisations do not wait till the last week but rather file the submission early. We have had an unusually high number of clients experience problems trying to install the new E@syfile software due to Java settings and versions causing issues that has taken time to rectify so please leave enough time for this.
If you need any assistance with reconciling payments and extracting information to E@syfile, please contact our Solutions Centre. Although our support calendar is fully booked in advance by clients, we will do our utmost to assist you -and this may include assisting after hours or on weekends.
